Gary Lineker hosts Action for Children's Ultimate News Quiz
The Ultimate News Quiz is back! And this year we're excited to announce our special guest host, footballing legend, Gary Lineker. Find out who took home the trophy and that all-important fundraising total.
The Ultimate News Quiz invites a guest list of TV and news personalities to battle it out in a current affairs quiz. As one of London’s most popular charity events, it has raised over £1.6 million since it began in 2007. And this year was our biggest yet, raising an impressive, £271,000!
BBC Newsnight have won the title of Ultimate News Quiz champions 2024 competing with strong runner up Good Morning Britain.
Huge congratulations to BBC Newsnight for bagging this year’s Ultimate News Quiz trophy. Every penny raised will help towards supporting children, young people and families who need it most.

Other well-known faces competing to win this year’s quiz included Dan Walker, Grayson Perry, Jeremy Vine, Rob Rinder, Richard Osman, Faisal Islam, Jane Moore, Nick Ferrari, Lucrezia Millarini, Vanessa Feltz, Ingrid Oliver, Dermot Murnaghan, Aasmah Mir and Nick Robinson.
Also, in attendance were leading corporate giants including Netflix, Sony and Google battling it out, all for a good cause.
The night also included an auction including coveted box tickets to Taylor Swift’s sold-out The Eras Tour which were won by one lucky bidder.
This year’s star-studded event was hosted by sports broadcaster and former professional footballer, Gary Lineker and sponsored by the Premier League. We'd like to say a huge thank you for their unexpected £25,000 donation on top of their £80,000 sponsorship!
