Planned breaks
Planned breaks is a part-time fostering arrangement.
Request your free guide to fostering todayPlanned breaks' carers play a vital role in supporting full-time foster carers and young people.
As well as long term, full commitment fostering, there are foster carers who provide planned breaks for other foster carers, usually just one weekend a month. This may be something you would consider alongside your full-time job. We can help you decide if this type of fostering arrangement works best for you.
Providing cover during holidays and weekends gives full-time carers the chance to recharge their batteries and enables children to have new experiences and develop new relationships. You will get to know different young people, so if you're good at building relationships, this could be for you! It would involve you looking after a child or young person for a few days, usually on a regular basis and planned in advance. This is a flexible arrangement and can be worked around your other commitments and availability.
It’s also a great way for people considering long term fostering to get hands-on experience before committing fully to a long term arrangement.
You will still be provided with the same high level of support, training and resources as all of our other foster carers.
