Charles Geekie joined the Board of Trustees at Action for Children in April 2023.

Charles is a practising barrister at 1GC Family Law. His work covers all areas of the law in relation to children. He acts for local authorities, parents, guardians and children providing direct instructions. In the private law field, he deals with cases with an international dimension, cases involving abduction and relocation. He conducts cases at all levels of court, including the Supreme Court. He has undertaken part-time judicial roles as a Recorder and Deputy High Court judge. He sits as an Arbitrator in children cases. For seven years he was a co-head of chambers at 1GC where he led a highly successful expansion of the chambers.

Charles has a particular interest in services that support children and families. Court proceedings are very stressful for any family. Any support that helps a family to resolve difficulties without court proceedings is a success. After many years focused on court proceedings, Charles is interested in building successful support services.

In March 2024 Action for Children published the Jay Review: Shattered Lives, Stolen Futures. Charles took part as one of the review panel members, together with Professor Alexis Jay CBE and Simon Bailey CBE, QPM, the former Chief Constable of Norfolk.
