Nationwide pay a visit to our Newcastle Family Club
We recently launched our three-year partnership with Nationwide. As part of the funding offered, Action for Children will be opening Family Clubs in 30 new locations across the UK.
Our Family Clubs will create welcoming, safe spaces in areas in the UK where families are experiencing hardship. These clubs will provide a lifeline for children, young people, and families.

Recently, Kirsty Hall, Social Impact Manager at Nationwide, and Sam Hart, Corporate Partnership Manager at Action for Children, visited Galafields Family Hub in Newcastle so they could find out more about how our partnership will provide real help to families across the UK.
Sally Noden, Children’s Services Manager, welcomed the visitors to Newcastle and was proud to introduce her team, including Jill Main, Family Practitioner and Team Leader, who founded the club in 2012.
Jill has enjoyed developing the programme over the years and is so happy to know that there will be more clubs available in the future.
It was a great insight into Family Clubs and also Action for Children. Seeing the smiles on the families’ faces and how they threw themselves into the activities was a delight to see as it demonstrates how much of an impact Action for Children and Family Clubs are making.
Kirsty
Sam Hart described the visit as an "incredible experience."
She added: "I thoroughly enjoyed the whole day, from meeting the team, to playing ‘Duck, duck goose’ with all the children and then sharing a meal with a lovely family who told me just how much they have been enjoying the club sessions."
Galafields is an excellent example of how important our services are to the children and families we serve.
Sam said: "This is the first service visit I have attended since joining in April this year and it made me feel so proud to be part of the Action for Children family."
Family Clubs will be offering volunteering opportunities for Nationwide staff, who will be able to learn more about the services offered by Action for Children as well as using their paid volunteering days in a meaningful way.
