The Christmas season is a time for magic and enjoyment. Presents under the tree. Hanging stockings. And enjoying festive treats. With the Christmas holidays approaching, we’re looking at things you can do with children this Christmas.

1. Visit our Secret Santa’s Giving Grotto

We recently ran a poll on children and young people aged 11 to 21 in the UK. The results showed two-thirds of the young people (66%) said they'd would be willing to donate one of their own Christmas presents to a child or young person they knew wasn’t going to get one.

Inspired by this kindness, we’re running a Giving Grotto on the 29 and 30 November to help children tap into their generosity this Christmas. When arriving at the Giving Grotto, children will step into the role of a Secret Santa and select a gift that could help a vulnerable child. This could be a coat, a Christmas dinner, or their very own Christmas present.

2. Complete Secret Santa’s Wish List with your children

If you’re unable to make our Giving Grotto this year, why not complete our Secret Santa’s Wish List with your child. The activity sheet will not only help you get into the Christmas spirit, but (similar to the Giving Grotto) will help your child learn all about the love, kindness, and generosity that’s at the heart of the magic of Christmas.

3. Make your own Christmas decorations

If you’re looking for a fun and creative activity to complete with your children this Christmas, why not make your own Christmas decorations? We have a range of ideas for you to try at home. And you only need a few things to get started, such as paper, scissors, and glue.

If you’d like to be a Secret Santa for a vulnerable child this year and you’re looking for ways to get your children involved, you can also download some of our Secret Santa activities. Such as decorating an Action for Children Christmas Tree, Bauble, or Make your Own Reindeer. You can then hang these decorations around your house to show you’re a Secret Santa for a vulnerable child. We also have a Christmas Quiz to bring even more merriment.
