Our residential care service provides a space for children and young people with disabilities to flourish
Stoneside short breaks is a short-term residential service for people with a variety of learning difficulties and challenging behaviours. Located in the southside area of Glasgow, our six-bed bungalow boasts an extensive rear garden with play equipment and front communal space.
We have cared for many children in the southside area of Glasgow since 2008, previously based in Knightswood. It’s important our guests enjoy their time in our care – and we know they do.
Stoneside is a nurturing environment where our young people can feel safe and loved and are given the opportunity to thrive.
As part of the services we offer at Stoneside, since 2012 we also provide long-term residential care for young people with disabilities.
We want to make sure that Stoneside can make a positive change to each young person that joins us, and their family. We employ a robust referral and induction process to ensure the needs of the young person can be met by our service.
Each young person is allocated a keyworker, and we implement a person-centred care plan. Our staff work one-on-one, or two-on-one, with each child – depending on their risk assessment and needs.
Our dedicated care team provide support in the following areas:
- Building resilience and developing helpful coping strategies
- Introducing new foods to restricted diets
- Helped families plan bedtime routines.
- Integrating children into their communities.
- Building confidence and self-esteem
- Growing independence
- Improving their emotional and physical wellbeing
- Accessing and engaging with external support services
Every disabled child and their family should have the right to residential care. We're committed to making that happen.
