Action for Children responds to NHS expansion of mental health support in schools
In response to NHS expansion of mental health support in schools, director of policy and campaigns at Action for Children, Imran Hussain, said:
“This is welcome news. A year of lockdowns, fear, anxiety, disruption to education and uncertainty about the future has added to the already shocking numbers of young people who have nowhere to turn for professional help.
“Our own school programmes, which have helped thousands of teenagers across the UK, show what a difference early intervention can make to improve the mental health of young people, helping to stop problems in their tracks.
“What the Government does now will shape these children’s lives and the future pressures on the NHS. If they get this wrong, the consequences could be disastrous.”
